For the last four years, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services have hosted the annual One Medicine Symposium to educate and provide attendees with take-home tools that will improve and enhance preparedness for a natural or man-made disaster or infectious disease outbreak. The theme of the 2007 symposium, “Globalization and Emerging Risks: A One Medicine Approach to a Changing World,” focuses on the effects of globalization on agriculture, public health, and animal health. This year’s agenda encourages human and animal health professionals to come together to answer key questions so we can improve awareness and understanding of issues benefiting from a One Medicine approach. |
